Fianna Fáil TD for Cavan-Monaghan, Niamh Smyth, has hosted Community First Responders in Leinster House to give them an opportunity to present to TDs and Senators on their activities.
Deputy Smyth welcomed members from the Shercock (South Monaghan / East Cavan) Community First Response (CFR) Group, Community First Responders representatives, and the National Ambulance Service.
Deputy Smyth said, “It is a privilege to be able to welcome Shercock CFR to Leinster House to present to members of the Dáil and Seanad.
“For the Sherock CFR group they are on call at all times, serving our community. 50% of their callouts are related to chest pains, 35% to incidents of suspected stroke, and a variety of other calls.
“40% of calls to Shercock CFR come in during work hours, another 40% between 5pm and 11pm, and the remainder overnight and early morning. It shows just how dedicated the members, and members of other CFR groups across the country are.
“They work in conjunction with the National Ambulance Service who also have to be commended. I would urge anyone who may be vulnerable or have neighbours who need extra support to make themselves known to their CFR group locally,” concluded Deputy Smyth.
