Fianna Fáil TD for Cavan-Monaghan Niamh Smyth welcomed the Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust to Leinster House to brief Oireachtas members on their work supporting families across Ireland.
The Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust aims to alleviate the financial hardship of bereaved families repatriating the body (bodies) of loved one(s) who have died abroad in sudden or tragic circumstances back to Ireland.
Speaking after the presentation from Colin and Eithne Bell, Deputy Smyth commented, “The Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust supports families at the most tragic and vulnerable times in their lives. They have dedicated their lives to supporting families most in need when a loved one passes away abroad.
“Since 2013 they have supported repatriation for 797 families across Ireland. Closer to home in Cavan they have assisted 18 families, 8 families in Monaghan, and in Meath 21 families. I know some of those families personally and have heard how helpful and easy they made such a harrowing experience for families at home. The dedication of Colin and Eithne knows no bounds.
“It was important to welcome them to Leinster House to allow the trust to speak to Oireachtas members from all parties on their activities and services. I would urge all to support their efforts, fundraise and spread awareness of the Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust,” concluded Deputy Smyth.
