Fianna Fáil TD for Cavan-Monghan, Niamh Smyth, has welcomed news that €2m in funding has been secured for RehabCare services. There was a fear services would be ceased in Cavan-Monaghan due to a shortfall in funding.
Deputy Smyth commented, “It is very welcome news that €2m has been secured for RehabCare services. The government only sat down with RehabCare after much political and public pressure.
“There was a massive concern in our community. Families had fears that vital services for their loved ones would be stopped. Fortunately, this is now not the case and services in our area will continue.
“Dozens of families have contacted me about this. Just last week I raised this with the Minister for Health in writing and during a topical issue debate in the Dáil.
“The Minister for Health and his Department must quickly outline when the money will be issued and ensure an examination of issuing multi-year funding is considered, so we do not have an annual panic for the clients and families of RehabCare,” concluded Deputy Smyth.
