Deputy Smyth had approached the Minister for meetings to seek funding to aide the building in returning to its former glory.
Deputy Smyth commented, “It is massively disappointing that the Minister continues to have a hands-off approach to this building. This is a protected structure which deserves financial support from central government to ensure it remains standing.
“There have been years of inaction. Despite the best efforts from Monaghan County Council they require supports from the Department. This looks unlikely from the current government and I will continue to raise this with the Minister,” concluded Deputy Smyth.
