Smyth attends Joint Policing Committee Training Seminar in Cork

As part of her role as a member of the Bailieborough Joint Policing Committee, Cllr. Niamh Smyth attended a special training seminar in Rosscarberry, Co. Cork in advance of the inaugural meeting of the committee on the 31st May.

Speaking after the training seminar, Cllr. Smyth said “it was a really useful and worthwhile conference. We got the chance to raise issues of concern and we were given answers to many of our questions. I really feel that I am far better prepared to sit on this committee and thus liaise with both members of the public and An Garda Siochána on issues affecting our local communities.”

‘While Crime prevention is primarily a matter for the Department of Justice, local authorities and local communities have a role to play in addressing issues such as Anti-Social Behaviour. I hope that we will be in a position to organise and facilitate a number of public meeting to outline to the local community our role and how we are there to help them’.
